Class Punch Cards

Classes

Hate to exercise? Me too! Belly Dance is fun, fabulous, and . . . good exercise too. Belly dance improves those hard to reach core muscles that are so important for back health. Our class is low impact, which is easy on feet, knees, and hips. Belly dance improves strength, endurance, flexibility, balance and coordination. Dancing can burn as many calories as walking, swimming, or riding a bicycle! Regular exercise like belly dancing can lower your blood pressure, heart rate, and improve your cholesterol profile too.

Don't worry, this class is geared toward ladies with no dance experience. You don't need to "master" moves, just come and have fun with it. If you want to go further, we have troupe practices on Thursdays.

In the Thursday class you will learn more advanced choregraphies. These include more complex zill patterns, veil work, Isis wings, cane, sword, and American Tribal Style (ATS). When you're ready to show off your talent there are several opportunities to perform in public.

If you are recovering from surgery and movement is part of your rehabilitation, please check with you doctor before beginning any exercise program

                                    Punch Cards

You can pay with cash or checks. Classes are $10 each or you can purchase a punch card. A four class card is $40, and a nine class card is $80 - that's ONE FREE CLASS! The cards do not expire and you can share them with friends.

NOTE: Monika teaches the Sunday class and has her own punch cards.

Beginning level classes are on Friday evenings, 6:30 to 8:00 PM and Sunday 11:30 - 1:00. Wear something that's comfortable and easy to move in, like yoga or sweat pants, tank top or T-shirt, capris or a skirt. A water bottle is a good idea. We do about 15 minutes of warm up before we start dancing to prevent injury.

In the beginning class I focus on correct dance posture, muscle isolation, basic moves, and coordination. You will learn 2 simple choreographies, be introduced to veils, zills, and canes, and learn rudimentary ATS (American Tribal Style). I have veils, zills, canes, and hip scarves at the studio so no special supplies are needed.
